Spring is the season of growth, and we are certainly growing our services here at Hope Unlimited Family Care Center. Our medical team is slated to expand our current walk-in pregnancy test services to include limited sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia screening will be confidential and available to men, women & teens.
In addition to promoting good health and sexual integrity education, this service will also allow Hope Unlimited Family Care Center to reach men, women and teens who may not normally step foot into our center. We hope to empower teens, dads, and moms to make changes promoting healthier families now and in the future.
Caring for families is always a learning process. Hope Unlimited Family Care Center staff recently realized the alarming rate at which our community’s parents are dealing with common stressors like job loss and family stress as a result of pornography use.
No doubt, porn is pervasive in our culture, but it’s shocking to break this down into family terms. Forty million people regularly visit porn sites online; 33% of porn viewers are women; 10% of 12 to 13 year olds report being addicted to porn.
Porn users are moms, dads, and kids.
At Hope Unlimited Family Care Center, our mentors often discover pornography is at the root of family trouble. Research shows porn dramatically increases infidelity, often causes financial hardship and job loss, and impacts children’s ability to discern what is normal and healthy… among other very real, negative emotional effects.

A community is only as strong as its weakest link. What is the link that makes up a community? Family. It’s a mom needing prenatal care, a dad needing fatherhood support, or a public or private school student needing to understand how choices today impact his/her future tomorrow. Each of these people play a vital role in a family.
Hope Unlimited Family Care Center’s mission is to strengthen and empower families, and dads are essential to the family. In January’s American Family Association Journal article, Porn is Strangling Families, I was reminded why reaching dads is so important.
“Pornography is sweeping through our churches like a tsunami leaving families torn apart in its wake.” The article went on to report, “Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Christian men are addicted to porn and living in the shame of its bondage.”
This is why we have invested more resources and time into our outreach and service to fathers. If you haven’t already, check out how Hope Unlimited Family Care Center is addressing these needs in this post.
Starting tough conversations is easier when we provide a walk-in, result-driven free service. That’s why we’ll also be expanding our current pregnancy test service to include limited sexually transmitted infection screenings later this year. This confidential and free service will be available to any teenager, man or woman.
At the end of 2015, the Lord told me this is the year of Malachi 4:6,
“God will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” Confronting the issues of pornography and sexually transmitted infections are vital to our mission and our work with families.
