Originally from Peru, Sarah Fret moved to Paducah in 2015. As she explored her new neighborhood, she found Hope Unlimited Family Care Center’s community store, Hope’s Closet. Sarah learned people in the community donate items to Hope’s Closet. Donations are then sold at thrift store prices helping families’ bottomline. The money raised helps fund Hope Unlimited’s free and confidential services for moms and dads.
This inspired Sarah. She immediately began to volunteer. “I have walked through a lot of situations in my life. The day I walked into Hope, I knew this was a place, if I gave my time to, I could promote services and opportunities for people to receive hope and love.” Sarah says her time here has helped her grow professionally. Her English is improving, and she’s polishing her customer service skills.
Love Amazing! All year the team of wonderful staff and volunteers have been intentional about what is commanded in John 13:34-35. There are a couple of key directives regarding love in these verses. God wants us to love others wholly, completely and unconditionally, just like He loves you and me. Why? The scripture goes on to say if we do, His Love in us will actually point others to Him. Isn’t that why we exist? Whether they need parenting help, encouragement, healing or to become more confident in a life skill, we are here to walk along side of them. Thank you for helping to make this possible.
This year’s Gala is just around the corner; Tuesday, September 19. It is going to be one you don’t want to miss. We will be sharing what God has been doing and how His Love Amazing has been at work. We want you to have the opportunity to talk to the staff and volunteers who work with our moms and dads. You can ask questions and hear how His Love is changing and saving lives. How are we able to do this each and every day? Because our focus is Christ; His Amazing Love and how He “Lavishes his Love on us….” 1 John 3:1
We can’t do this alone. It’s because of your partnership we are able to touch the lives of so many families. I hope you have made plans to attend this year and bring someone who you would like to introduce to Hope Unlimited Family Care Center. If you don’t already have your tickets, it’s not too late. Stop by or call! We will reserve your seat.
Thank you for your partnership, prayer support and time. Thank you for being a part of something big God is doing, where the results are truly Amazing!
Southern Illinois families now have another day of support! Starting September 5, our Metropolis location, at 305 Lincoln Street, will be open Monday through Thursday, from 9-4 PM.
This expansion adds an entire day of service. Our Metropolis location had only been open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for the last three years. To better meet the needs of our community, we’ve hired a mentor/assistant to help empower moms and dads.
Several volunteers have stepped forward to open Hope’s Closet, our community store located on-site, four days a week. Both the community and our clients are invited to shop for clothes, furniture and toys at thrift store prices. Hope’s Closet is open 10-4 PM, Monday – Thursday.
Is your weekday busy? Don’t worry! We’ve added “Second Saturdays” to the store schedule. Hope’s Closet – Metropolis will be open the second Saturday of each month from 10-3 PM through December.
You did it! Your family and about 3,000 others have raised more than $44,000 through Hope Unlimited Family Care Center’s annual Baby Bottle Campaign. That’s about $10,000 more than last year. Thank you! We certainly can make a difference when we each contribute. Parents on both sides of the Ohio River will benefit, thanks to your efforts.
We would like to give a special thanks to: Lone Oak First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Paducah, as well as Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Golconda, IL for bringing in the most bottle money this year. Many generous businesses helped us, too. Customers at Midtown Market , Chick-fil-A Free-Standing and Pizza Inn, all in Paducah, gave the most.
Hope Unlimited Family Care Center distributes baby bottles Mother’s Day to Father’s Day each year. People fill bottles with cash, change and checks. Every penny supports and empowers moms and dads to grow stronger families.
