Our volunteers are the BEST! We celebrated them with a luncheon on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. This year we were able to honor Mrs. Sharon White for her 24 years of volunteer service with Hope Unlimited Family Care Center. We could not do all that we do without the help from our wonderful volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please call either location for details.
Have you shopped at Hope’s Closet lately? If not, you are missing out on great deals and cute outfits. Hope’s Closet is a community thrift store that is located at both Paducah and Metropolis locations. It is open to the public Monday-Thursday 10-4. The store has up to date items at low-cost for the entire family. Hope’s Closet first opened on Cairo Road. At that time it was a “blessing closet” and was not open to the general public. But, we wanted to build more relationships and help families by being able to offer so much more. It has been solely by donations that Hope’s Closet has been able to open their doors to the public. We take donations of clothes, shoes, toys, housewares and baby items such as highchairs, strollers, bouncy seats, diapers, etc. (We are unable to accept car seats and baby beds.) Our Metropolis store even accepts furniture. On the first Monday of each month, we have Mega Bag Monday where you can fill a bag of clothes for just $4. It is our desire to create a shopping experience that shows our customers that we value them. In order for us to achieve this we cannot accept clothes that are out of date, dirty or torn. All money received goes directly back into serving and empowering moms and dads in our community. Want to help but don’t have items to donate? Hope’s Closet has many opportunities available for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer please call either location to find out more information.
I am so excited about our upcoming Gala on Tuesday, September 18th. This is a time of celebration as well as keeping you informed of what God is doing in the lives of the moms and dads and to let you know what is new that you can get involved in. You won’t want to miss it this year as Grammy nominated Christian artist, Kari Jobe’s parents, Mark and Sandy Jobe are our special guests. WHY? Why do we choose to daily walk this journey with moms and dads? 1 John 3:18 says, 18 “ Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” God instructs us to help those that need help. We want to be a part of changing our communities and helping moms and dads experience what it means to not be alone in day to day life. We want to see this generation stop the cycle of poverty, low self-worth and begin to value who they are in Christ. We want to see moms and dads begin living the life God created them to live and pass that heritage down to their children. This starts by each of us getting involved in people’s lives. By making sure we are a part of helping parents feel supported, encouraged and mentored.
One BIG way you can be a part of this is a new program called Embrace Grace. This is a ministry we are partnering with that specifically ministers to the single, pregnant mommy. The exciting part about this is it’s a support group within the church, led by women. And, here at Hope Unlimited, we have the privilege of telling every mom with a positive pregnancy test where they can attend this support group and we do that by giving them a gift called a Love Box. We will be telling you more about this at Gala. Stop by our booth to receive more information.
Thank you for taking the time to pray for Hope Unlimited, our clients and team of staff and volunteers. Thank you also for your generous gifts through our Baby Bottle Campaign, the numerous hours that our amazing volunteers give and for your part of this amazing ministry. We are NOT ALONE because of you!
PARTY!! Hope Unlimited Family Care Center Block Party that is. We had a blast this summer putting on a free neighborhood block party in both Metropolis and Paducah. We were able to serve, love and fellowship with 189 adults and children in Metropolis and 269 in Paducah. These block parties are a way for us to educate the community on the services we provide and a chance to show families they are Not Alone
Thank You! Your loose change is helping impact families throughout our community. We have been able to close out our baby bottle campaign with a total of $…..00. These donations will definitely make a difference in the lives of moms and dads. Did you forget to turn in your bottles? No problem, just bring them by Hope Unlimited during regular business hours. If you were unable to participate this year don’t fret. We will be distributing baby bottles next year with the campaign starting Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019. We would like to give a special thanks to the following churches for bringing in the most bottle money this year. Every cent helps grow strong families.
