When is the best time to take a pregnancy test?

How soon you take a pregnancy test depends on your normal menstrual cycle. If your period is fairly regular (every 28 to 32 days), you can take a pregnancy test a couple of days after your missed period.

If your periods are normally irregular, it is best to wait for at least a week after your missed period. At-home tests are fairly reliable, but some women take them too soon or don’t follow the directions. You can receive free pregnancy testing at Hope Unlimited Family Care Center. Schedule your appointment today.

Why do I need an ultrasound?

An ultrasound will help detect some important information about your health and your pregnancy. You learn 3 important things from an ultrasound:

  • How far along you are in your pregnancy
  • If the pregnancy is viable (possibly over 20% of all known pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage)
  • Where the pregnancy is located (if it’s located outside of your uterus, it’s potentially life-threatening)

At Hope Unlimited Family Care Center, we will perform your on-site ultrasound. A physician will then review the results to determine if your pregnancy is in the uterus, determine how long you’ve been pregnant, and check the heartbeat.

If I am pregnant, what should I do next?

Once you have confirmed your pregnancy with free pregnancy testing and ultrasound, it’s time to discuss your options. You have three, abortion, making an adoption plan, or parenting. We want you to have as much information on each option as possible. Our goal is that you would come away from your visit confident in your knowledge and empowered in your decision.
